Oystermouth Castle.

*Oystermouth Castle*

We are all loving the new look of Oystermouth Castle.
The local council have spent quite a bit of money on it this year.
It is situated in the Gower Peninsula in South Wales and I think it is one of the Gower's finest historic castles.

It is on a small hill with an amazing view over Swansea Bay.

Part of the Keep dates from the 12th century.
Twice it has been burnt, first in 1116 and later in 1215.
It had a gradual decline and by the 16th century the castle was unfortunately ruined.

Recently it was host to a medieval festival to coincide with it's official opening.
It also has Shakespeare plays, concerts and many more exciting events over the coming summer months.

A massive fighting feast, think everyone died.

Weapons.

Medieval flag.

A little bit of scaffolding left.

Loving these old cream tents.

It was an exciting and extraordinarily day, with so much going on.

Loved it.

  4. Wow what beautiful, beautiful pics! How amazing to live somewhere with castles. I think we have one castle type building in Dunedin and that's it - not even in the same island as us! My two small folk would flip out to visit a real castle one day. I will show them your pics after school today. Have a fab week hon.
