Vintage Cake - Stands,

We made the most of the light summer evening by working outside tonight. We have an order for 25 cake-stands for this weekend for a Mid-Summer ball.

I love going through all the old plates working out which one goes best with each one. It is so easily the most fun part of making these vintage cake-stands. It is also a little sad to drill holes in these plates too, as I do get attached to them, sad as it seems!

I'm still a little sad about saying goodbye to the lovely green floral saucer in this photo. Love it!

I was so excited to come across 6 small side plates that had butterfly and flowers on them, as this is the theme for the Summer Ball.

So I have now mixed and matched 75 plates together to make the 25 vintage cake-stands.

Now it's drilling time!

May not see you for a while!!!

  1. Oh wow! How exciting, cannot wait to see them when they are finished.

  2. Blimey you are going to be busy ;-)) Can't wait to see them after either, dee x

  3. Wow, what fun! I guess it must be sad to make holes in them....but think how wonderful the finished article is!!!!! I hope you will take some pics of them when they are finished....a real feast for the eyes!!!!!!!

  4. Hi Becca
Glad you liked the award. You totally deserve it, your blog is gorgeous.
Am going "cherry tree" shopping today and hoping to find a nice addition to my world of charity items!
How do you drill without cracking the plates? Did someone teach you? Must be hard!

  5. It must be so much fun making all those beautiful cake stands! You chose some very pretty plates.

    Have a lovely evening,
